About Show Up & Move
Welcome — This Is a Different Kind of Fitness Site
Show Up & Move is a no-shame fitness blog and livestream workout community for busy adults who want to get stronger and feel better without extreme diets, six-week transformations, or gym intimidation. It's run by me, Corey Nelson — a certified strength coach with 12 years of experience helping everyday people move more and stress less.
But the real reason this site exists is simpler than any of that. I built it because I got tired of watching the fitness industry sell the same lie over and over: that your body is a problem, and the only solution is to suffer, shrink, and transform. That lie has made millions of normal people feel like failures before they ever tied their shoes. Show Up & Move is my response to it.
Why I Started Show Up & Move
For 12 years, I worked the floor at a regional big-box gym in Omaha, Nebraska — starting as a floor trainer and ending as fitness director. I coached more than 3,000 everyday adults: new moms, retirees, night-shift workers, desk jockeys, and plenty of people who hadn't exercised since high school. Not one of them was a competitive athlete. Almost all of them came to me carrying the same weight: the belief that if a workout doesn't hurt, it doesn't count.
That belief is a lie. And I spent a decade quietly undoing it, one client at a time.
In 2024, I left the gym to build my own thing: a livestream group-workout community called Sweat Together, plus this blog. The community is where I lead live workouts from my living room, and the blog is where I explain the why before the what. Both are built on the same idea: fitness should fit your life, not the other way around.
Meet Corey Nelson
I'm 38 years old, and I live in Omaha with my wife Beth — a third-grade teacher — and our two kids, Harper (5) and Theo (2). I hold a NASM-CPT and an NSCA-CSCS, but what I'm most proud of is the 12 years I spent coaching ordinary people who just wanted to carry their kids, climb the stairs, and feel a little more capable in their own bodies.
When I'm not leading a workout or writing, I'm usually cooking my way through Omaha's food scene. I'm a Runza loyalist, a recovering food-court kid, and the proud owner of a smoker I use way too much. Beth and I binge-watch shows after the kids go down — and I name my workouts after whatever we're watching. You might catch The Ted Lasso Circuit or Yellowstone Leg Day on a live stream.
I'm chatty, meticulous, and deeply allergic to the "no pain no gain" bro-science I spent a decade trying to replace with something kinder and more effective.
What We Believe
Show Up & Move is built on a few simple principles that guide every post, every workout, and every interaction.
No shame. Ever. Your body, your age, your fitness level — none of it is a problem to be fixed. We don't do before-and-after shame, and we don't talk about bodies as if they're projects.
No extremes. Quick fixes fail because they ask you to become a different person. We believe in small, repeatable actions that build a habit you can keep for years, not weeks.
Consistency beats intensity. The workout you'll do again tomorrow is better than the one that wrecks you today. Our baseline is two minutes. If you can move for two minutes, you can start.
Strength for real life. Getting stronger should make your daily life easier — carrying kids, hauling groceries, surviving a desk job, staying useful after 40. That's the kind of strength we train.
Encouragement over aesthetics. We care about how you feel and what you can do, not how you look. If you want to look like an influencer, this probably isn't the place for you. If you want to feel better in your own body, welcome home.
The Sweat Together Community
Sweat Together is the heart of Show Up & Move. Every week, I go live from my living room and lead a 30–40 minute no-equipment workout. People join from their kitchens, garages, bedrooms, and porches. Some have cameras on, some off. Some are in pajamas. Kids wander through the frame. Dogs bark. We laugh, we sweat, and we keep going.
It's messy, and that's the point. A 50-person living-room gym isn't a polished production — it's a group of ordinary people who decided to show up and move together, even when life is chaotic. That's what makes it work. You don't need to be good on camera to join. You just need to be willing to be a little awkward and a lot real.
Our Promise to You
Here's what you'll never find on this site: quick fixes, extreme diets, body shaming, or trash talk aimed at other coaches. I won't promise you a transformation in six weeks, and I won't sell you something you don't need.
Here's what you will find: honest, practical guidance on strength, mobility, habit-building, and real-food nutrition. Short workouts that fit before the kids wake up. Simple explanations of why movement matters and how to do it safely. And a community that will notice when you're gone and welcome you back when you return.

If you've been told to hate exercise, this site is here to undo that — one short workout, one kind word, one small win at a time. You don't need a gym. You don't need a perfect plan. You don't need to be an athlete. You just need to show up.
Show up. Sweat a little. Come back. That's the whole philosophy. And we'd love for you to be part of it.
